We wanted to do something new for the new year, so we’re starting a new monthly series called “Did You Know?”. The internet is always changing, which means your website needs can change too! These monthly posts will feature a news story, either past news or hot of the press, and how it relates to your website needs. These posts won’t be lengthy, but we promise to give you links with more information about the topic.

We’ll start with some past news this time. Google made an announcement in August of last year that they are going to use SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) as a slight ranking signal. In other words, having SSL on your website can give you a slight rankings boost. While it is only a slight boost for now, Google could give it more weight at any time. More information can be found here.

Maybe you have never considered getting a SSL for your website because you don’t do e-commerce. But having a SSL on your website will make all of your visitors’ information more secure. And if you’re not sure where to begin, we can help with that. You can contact us at the bottom right of your screen or by clicking ‘Contact Us’.
