I have a huge appreciation for spaces that are well organized. I’m not saying I need everything to be perfect, but I like it when a space looks clean, and I know where everything is.

That being said, I don’t like going home right now. I just moved a few days ago, and there is still A LOT of stuff in boxes. And I know that my new place will not be organized until I organize it. So I am writing this post more so for myself than for anyone else. But I hope this is helpful to you. Here are 3 tips for getting your space organized, and keeping it organized.

1. Don’t try to do it all at once. I cannot imagine going home tonight and trying to unpack every box. But I can go home and unpack one or two boxes. If you try to do everything all at once, you’ll burn yourself out, and be scared to come back to it.

2. Get some help. I got home late the night after I moved in, and I wasn’t looking forward to walking into what I thought was a disaster. What I didn’t know was that my fiancée had been working on getting some things organized while I was gone. It was so refreshing to be able to see the floor in the living room. She has also been helpful in providing input on where a piece of furniture or a decoration should go. Here at Digital Solutions, we clean the office as a team every Friday afternoon. It goes much quicker when we work together, and can even be fun.

3. Organize your space regularly. As I mentioned above, we clean our office every Friday. The first time we did this, it took quite a long time. But since we clean weekly now, it takes 10-15 minutes. See the difference? It’s not a daunting task because we do it regularly.

I don’t know about you, but I have a much easier time focusing if my space is organized. I’m more productive, I’m in a better mood, and I can be more helpful to the people around me.
